“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” (1 Peter 3:15)
We are encouraged to be prepared to answer questions about our faith, answering with humbleness and respect. Peter was speaking to the early churches in Asia Minor (modern day Turkey). He was providing basic instructions in Christian life. In today’s Scripture passage he calls us to be prepared. How do we get prepared? Well, through reading and studying Scripture, learning the history of the Holy Land and the rest of the Middle East and learning what type of questions skeptics ask. Getting prepared to defend your faith is a life long journey. Sharing your faith is the final goal.
As we prepare ourselves to provide the “reason for our hope” we must always keep in mind the Lord’s inspired Word to Peter; we must share why we believe and defend our faith with meekness (humbleness) and fear (respect). We are called to share our faith, not shove it down people’s throats. We are to share our faith with others like a precious gift.
Share the precious gift of the reason for your hope and faith in Christ with someone today, with humbleness and respect.
