There is Nothing New Under the Sun. Every jacked-up crazy notion that humans have ever come up with are just echoes of the past relabeled. So, All this New Age Church stuff has been going on intermittently for centuries – in some cases millennia. The New Age and Charismatic Movements are just rehashed and relabeled replicas of past follies perpetrated by well documented crackpots. There is literally nothing new to try. It has all been done before and all you need to do is a little research to confirm that fact.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 KJV, Nothing New Under the Sun
“The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.”
Ecclesiastes 1:9 NASB is a little clearer.
“That which has been is that which will be, And that which has been done is that which will be done. So there is nothing new under the sun.”
Nothing New Under the Sun and the New Age Practices”
The practice of the New Age Movement is used to gain insight, knowledge, as well as supernatural power. Unfortunately, the targeted young generation is unaware that the spiritual realm they are entering is not God’s realm. It is demonic, hence, Satan’s realm of power. Interest in the paranormal has become increasingly popular in churches. So God has instructed us not to use these practices. God’s supernatural power only comes through the Holy Spirit. You will also never find in the Bible that a person is possessed by an angel. God himself enters you when you accept Christ as Lord and Savior and we willingly accept this free gift. Only Satan and his demons possess people, and often by force, so these occult practices are forbidden by God.
Deuteronomy 18:10-12 KJV
“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.”
The Occult is Nothing New Under the Sun
These occult practices are now and in the past creeping into mainline “orthodox” Christian worship. So, you need to clearly understand that there is no such thing as a Christian witch. Christian astrologers are not Christian. Christians practicing necromancy (communicating with the dead) are channeling demons, not your dearly departed or an angel. So these things are demonic and should be avoided at all cost. Often people think that Contemplative prayer or Sozo prayer is harmless or even beneficial but they have their roots in Hindu mysticism. Contemplative prayer presented as a prayer of silence, an experience of “God’s” presence as the ground in which your being is rooted. But, the only thing it does is opens your mind to suggestion. Your thoughts are no longer on scripture but on emptying your mind and feeling some sort of experience.
Sozo prayer is similar. It is supposed to produce unique inner healing and deliverance in which the main aim is to get to the root of those things hindering your personal connection with God. But, the only thing your doing is developing an altered state of consciousness that allows demonic influence and possible possession. This is one of the primary reasons God commands us to be sober. Because any altered state of consciousness opens us up to the spiritual realm.
The reality of prayer is that it’s just talking to God. We’ve had that right since the veil was torn in the temple when Jesus gave his life for ours. We need no special prayer techniques. We can just talk to God as our Friend, Father, Savior, and Lord. Just talk to Him.
Nothing New Under the Sun
As I stated before, you will find nothing in scripture that commands us to enter this spiritual realm. Specifically, because it’s dangerous. The Holy Spirit enters those born again but otherwise, there is absolutely nothing good about entering the spiritual realm, according to scripture. God’s Angels don’t possess us and God’s realm is beyond our reach until we die or are raptured, according to scripture. Therefore, seeking the spiritual realm is exclusively seeking the demonic realm. Do Not walk down that path. As a true Holy Spirit filled Christian, we cannot be possessed. But we can be led astray and deceived by demonic forces. The only protection from this deception is to know and obey Biblical scripture. Be a Berean in all things.
