The Gideons International

“Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.” (Joshua 1:7)

In this verse Joshua was addressing the people of Israel, but it still applies to us today. The most preeminent part of the law being the 10 Commandments in Exodus 20:3-17. The 10 Commandments and the 2 Commandments Christ shared in Matthew 22:37-39, provide all you really need to live a righteous life, “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” We are saved by Grace thru faith, not by works, but the law teaches us right from wrong from a perfect teacher that can never be wrong, God Himself. We could never even conceive of a better teacher, much less find a better teacher.

We had a wonderful Annual Pastor’s Banquet last night, and our theme for the evening was from Joshua 1:7, “…be strong and very courageous...” We had about 70 people in attendance. The venue, Mount Vernon Baptist Church was beautiful; we had a good meal, great fellowship, delightful singing and two outstanding speakers, Ralph and Cindy Davis. Ralph shared Bible distribution stories from around the world and here in the USA. I’m inspired every time I hear him speak. I’m looking forward to speaking myself at Tabernacle Baptist Church next Sunday on the 16th. I pray that I can be an inspiration too.

The Gideon’s International’s primary goal is to bring men, women, boys and girls to the saving knowledge and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our secondary goal is to distribute God’s Word in the form of Bibles and Testaments. We provide free Bibles to people who don’t know Christ as their Lord and Savior, so that through reading the scripture, the Holy Spirit of God will open their hearts, so that they accept the free gift of God; salvation and eternal life in a personal relationship with the Creator, Master and Sustainer of everything, our Lord and our God Jesus Christ. What? An association of business men does that? Yes, an association of Christian business men that was founded by 3 traveling businessmen way back in 1899. If you want to know more about the Gideons, invite a Gideon to speak at your church. A Gideon in your area would be delighted to address your church, Sunday school class, gathering or group about our ministry. You can also go to our website: www.gideons.org for more information. Or, be a "Friend of Gideons" at www.friendsofgideons.org.

Have a blessed day, filled with thoughts of our Lord and all he does for us every day. Amen!
