God is Our Refuge and Strength

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1. I have a habit of seeing all the grotesque and horrible things happening all around us and instructing people to not do those things. Not because I’m all doom and glume but because it seems to be what needs to be said. The world is on a fast track to destruction and I want to be a positive force against societal collapse. But the Bible has lots to say about the things we should do in addition to the things we are not to do. One of those things is to go to God during times of trouble and trust him as your refuge from the grotesque and horrible things happening all around us. He will give you strength.

God is Our Refuge and Strength When We Feel Alone

“The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.” Psalm 9:9. When we feel alone and burdened God is there to be our sanctuary. Praying and reading God’s Word can release the burdens of our lives. Praying and reading God’s Word can also bring us into the presence of the Lord. He never leaves us, so we need to respond in our relationship and go to Him. As we seek that relationship with God, we will no longer feel troubled and we will be comforted and strengthened. We will no longer feel alone.

God is Our Refuge and Strength When We Feel Like there is No Hope

“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” Romans 15:13. We have a helper that is with us always. He is the Holy Spirit and he not only gives us the power to endure but the blessing of hope. God is the light at the end of the tunnel, the summit of the mountain, and the hope of good things to come. We go through trials, tribulations, and personal mistakes every day. Without the ever-present hope that God provides, many can slip into depression and despair. As Christians, we can have the joy and peace that God provides through the hope or expectation of better things in our future.

God is Our Refuge and Strength

Our ever-present God is there to providing us sanctuary, comfort, and strength. We just have to go to him. Many people fail to seek out this gift from God. Remember, God is always with us. We are not always with him, so we need to actively seek Him every day. We need to build that relationship with Him because we are the members of the relationship that drift away. God is always present. Build your relationship with God every day through prayer and reading the Holy Bible. Don’t seek feelings and experiences because they can lie to you. The only true and steadfast way to build a relationship with our precious Lord and God is to pray and also to read and study God’s precious Word.

May God bless you and strengthen you always!
