I’m not in much of a writing mood and I don’t think the Lord has given me anything to write about, so I’m just going to share this.
People are crazy! Throughout history humans have struggled, looking for truth and spirituality. They have developed science that they believed to be true and accurate, just to have that theory or scientific notion replaced by another, and then another, and then another. They have looked for a God or gods, because we are hard wired to seek spirituality, yet they are never satisfied (this includes Christians). They are always looking for bigger, better and more. Then they have the audacity to think they have the right answer and anyone that disagrees is wrong. Then when proven wrong, they either defend their faith in their religion or science or philosophy with mindless faith and “just so” rebuttals or they abandon their “truth” for yet another “truth”. The arrogance and pride astounds me, but I’m no different. I have steadfastly believed in things that were in time replaced by other things. People are crazy!
The only truth that I’ve ever believed in that has been proven true time and again is the truth within the Bible. It has been tested and tried, scrutinized and attacked for hundreds of years (as a whole) and as Hebrew and Christian scripture for thousands of years, yet it always, “comes up smelling like a rose”. But for many Christians the Bible isn’t enough. They also want the most current scientific theories (proven or not) and the latest philosophies. Unfortunately, these theories and philosophies come from fallible, sinful, humans. As I stated before, people are crazy, so why would you trust their fleeting feeble minds; their minds of frequent changes and self-centered pride and greed. No. Not me. I’m going to trust the tried and tested Bible, God’s Word. Nothing else makes sense. If a religion or theory or philosophy does not reconcile with the Bible, I don’t want any part of it. This may sound contradictory, but I’ve researched volumes of science, religions and philosophies and they all have failed in one way or another (often vast failures), but the Word of God has never failed me. Not ever.
But, why believe me? I’m just another fallible, sinful, human – just an old sinner saved by grace. Don’t trust me. We all need to, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)
