Apostate in Priest’s Clothing

“But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.” (Job 32:8)

The below is a couple of brief excerpt from today’s Creation Ministries International (CMI) article, where a Priest is claiming that the teachings of CMI are borderline heretical and their regard for the Bible is idolatry. You can find his correspondence and the CMI response at http://creation.com/cmi-heretical.

“…your interpretation of the Bible and your "worship" of it is borderline heretical. The idolatry that your beliefs stem from, it is erroneous in heart, thought, and soul. As a Christian your responsibility is to the New Testament.” “…the Bible, as a tool of man, invented by man, for man, is and will always be corrupted and impure,…” Father Jason A. F. B. Ph.D. (a Priest).

Folks, that was a Priest wr iting that if we claim that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God and believe that everything should reconcile with Biblical scripture then we are practicing borderline heresy. Well, if the Bible isn’t all these things, what is he basing his religion and professed Christianity on? As I read the CMI article I saw humanism and a disregard for the Bible as a whole. This priest doesn’t even believe that the Bible is the Word of God. He believes it to be a compilation of the writings of men that were not inspired, and the writings are corrupted and impure. That sounds like he is not only compromising his faith to religion, science and pseudo-science, but to humanism and Islam. The Islamic world often claims that the Bible is corrupted and impure, so what is he relying on for the basis of his faith? Is it extra-biblical writing from the Pope, philosophers, other religions, or perhaps other writings of men that are much more likely to be corrupted, impure and compromised? All men are sinful, fallible and corruptible, so why believe them over the Word of God? We can’t truly know God unless we believe what He wrote. God wrote the Bible through men, not the other way around. If it were the other way around then the god we serve would be a god of our own creation. I pray that this Priest (Father Jason) doesn’t believe that. That would be profoundly sad, but that’s what much of mainstream religion is teaching today – a feel good, allow anything, pseudo-religion of spirituality.

We who are Biblical Creationists do not worship the Bible we simply hold it in esteem as the inspired, infallible Word of our Almighty God and the foundation of our faith. Any other foundation is “sinking sand”.
