Innocent or Corrupt?

“Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” Psalm 51:5

“The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.” Psalm 58:3

“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned.” Romans 5:12

According to Islam children are born innocent and have to learn to be bad, mean, liars and self-centered. Logic and a simple observation of children and their behavior prove the Islamic doctrine to be erroneous. Children exit the womb and often immediately start demanding attention. Then as they grow they take to lying and self-centered behavior like a fish to water. This is only partially their fault though. Psalm 51:5 shares that we are corrupt and in need of a savior from conception. That’s because through Adam we all have inherited an innate propensity to sin, as noted in Romans 5:12.

We note in Psalm 58:3 that the wicked people are wicked from the womb and go astray as soon as they are born. Unfortunately, Psalm 58:3 is talking about all of us to some degree. Some people are prone to being wicked more than others, but all are wicked in the light and presence of our perfect and Holy God. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23

Please don’t fall into the doctrines of this sinful world and false religions. The Bible is clear and common sense dictates that children are born corrupt and in need of a savior. They must be taught to be good and will choose to do things their way regardless of how bad, inappropriate or dangerous their way is. I love children and many are precious in their demonstrations of love, generosity and kindness, but I attribute most of that to their parents loving guidance.

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
