False Doctrine

Writer: David Lee BrownDavid Lee Brown

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” 2 Timothy 3:16

Today I’m going to share with you some of the false teachings that are out there in todays “Christian” churches. These contradictions of scripture are evil and diminish Christianity to a mindless myth. Why do I say, “mindless myth?” Because if you just believe in Jesus and trust in Jesus without knowing what the Bible says about Jesus, what Jesus are you worshiping? Some made up Jesus of your own design? A Jesus made up by someone else? Folks, if it’s not the Jesus of the Bible, then your worshiping a myth. So, what are some of these mindless myths?

Lies about the Bible

The false teaching that states the Bible is corrupted due to innumerable revisions. Fact, the Bible has substantiating manuscripts that date back to the 1st century, manuscripts that far exceed any other book on the planet (over 25,000). It was meticulously copied by professional scribes whose work was scrutinized by senior scribes. I could go on with more evidence, but you get the picture. The Bible’s literary accuracy is overwhelmingly trustworthy.

The false teaching that you must allegorize the miracles and the prophecy of the Bible. See the above description of the Bible’s accuracy. Then realize that every prophecy that has been fulfilled, has been fulfilled with 100% accuracy and that miracles by definition can only be substantiated by historical documentation because they are supernatural events. God is a God of miracles and genuine prophecy. No other religious writings have substantiated prophecy, none of them.

Lies about God

Another lie is that God is a God of love who would never harm or punish his followers for their sins. Hebrews 12:4-10 reveals that God punishes his children as a good earthly father disciplines his children, so they learn how to do the right things according to societal laws, proper decorum and God’s Word.

The lie that God is a vicious blood thirsty savage. By definition, God is completely sovereign and everything he has done or will do is good and correct and in accordance with his perfect will. He has a purpose for every birth, death, triumph, tragedy and disaster. As the sovereign Creator Master and Sustainer of everything, His master plan, that existed before the universe He created ever existed, is perfect. Part of that plan was loving us so much that he sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to die for our sins, so that we can have eternal life and eternal fellowship with our creator. God is love.

Lies about Jesus

The lie that Jesus was just a great teacher or prophet. Speaking about Jesus, Acts 4:12 says, “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” Jesus is the only way, so He must be the promised Christ. He must be God the Son. The accuracy and prophecy of the Bible demand it.

The lie that Jesus was just another created being, that he too sinned and that He is not God. Yet, he perfectly matches the description of the Christ from the Old Testament, the prophecies about Him all came true and his miracles and resurrection prove that he is God. John 8:58 states, “Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.” In other words, Jesus proclaimed that He Himself is the sinless, self-existent always present God.

The lie of judging people

The lie that professes, just because you share what the Bible says, you are judging people. If I share what the Word of God says, then God is judging, not me. I recently had a debate and every time I shared what God’s Word said, I was instantly and violently confronted as being judgmental. If it’s shared in love from God’s Word with instruction in righteousness in mind, that is not being judgmental, it’s being a caring concerned friend, fellow Christian or teacher. If it comes from the Bible, then God is the judge, not the person sharing scripture.

I could go on with an extensive list of heretical apostate lies about Christianity – from the lips of “Christians,” but it would be too long for this devotional blog. All of these false beliefs and lies come from Biblical illiteracy. Most people just believe what their preacher says, the media says or even take their doctrine from Hollywood movies – ridiculous! Without reading and studying God’s Word, in its entirety, you cannot know what the Bible says, you just can’t.

Okay, I’ll step back down off of my soapbox and quit preaching for today, but please heed what I’m saying. Ready and study your Bible. Feel free to contact me if you have questions. I love and appreciate all of you.
