Many churches have proclaimed or morphed into being “Woke.” This wokeism has become a religion in itself but is also infecting the Church. According to Wokeism.org, “Wokeism is a Marxist-inspired movement that started off with well-intentioned people that wanted to stop racism and social injustice. It has now morphed into a cult that seeks to silence all of those that disagree. At first, using social humiliation, but now graduating to violence through Antifa and Black Lives Matter riots.” This wokeism is not Biblical and is breeding division. Not only division between races, but a division between Christians. The Woke Church is not “the church” at all, but an evil infiltration of ideas that have no Biblical bases. This trend must stop!
What is The Woke Church?
It is pastors, staff, and members that push critical race theory, race-centered reparations, and “social justice” at all costs. There are some significant problems with this, and we’ll pick it apart later. For now, let’s see what the Bible says. Genesis 3:20 “And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.” In other words, everyone that has ever lived is a direct descendant of Adam and Eve. Acts 17:26 “And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;” So, again, we are all humans. We are the human race without regard to the socially imposed and Darwinian-inspired race, creed, and color. There is only one race – the Human Race.
Critical Race Theory and The Woke Church
According to Wikipedia, critical race theory “proposes that white supremacy and racial power are maintained over time, and in particular, that the law may play a role in this process. Second, critical race theory work has investigated the possibility of transforming the relationship between law and racial power, and more broadly, pursues a project of achieving racial emancipation and anti-subordination.” This critical race theory has clergy requesting that their “white” parishioners apologize for being white! The fact that they have an unchangeable physical trait appears irrelevant to these “Woke Pastors.” People cannot permanently change their color, their hair type, their facial features, or anything else that is a permanent part of them.
So, apologizing for how God designed you and where God places you in society becomes a direct assault on God. These Woke Pastors and parishioners are, in essence, saying that they understand reality better than God, and they plan on fixing God’s mistake. It’s crazy! God is entirely sovereign, and we do not have the authority or wisdom to question Him. There is only one race – the Human Race!
Race-centered Reparations and The Woke Church
There are actually pastors and church members out there who believe the United States of America owes people money for its past sins. This idea is preposterous. Neither I nor my father or my grandfather owned slaves. My grandfather was a simple farmer with a relatively small plot of land and used it for subsistence farming. My father retired from the Air Force, and I retired from the Navy. So, why should I pay anyone anything? “Oh, but you’re not paying. The government is paying.” No, skippy, I’m paying – through my taxes which the government is misappropriating if they use them to pay reparations.
Remember, handouts lead to dependence on the government. Dependence on the government is social slavery. If the government controls your money, they can decide what you spend it on and with whom you can do business. Your independence is lost, and you are indeed a government slave, which is exactly the result of Marxism, Socialism, and Communism. No matter what “race” you claim to be, reparations are not the answer. These woke pastors need to realize this and discontinue supporting the enslavement of the masses. As their shepherd, he should lead them to the truth and freedom of the Gospel and away from these crazy social enslavement policies.
Social Justice and The Woke Church
Wikipedia has defined social Justice as “the relation of balance between individuals and society measured by comparing distribution of wealth differences, from personal liberties to fair privilege opportunities.” This idea is perhaps the most ridiculous of the social Wokeism movement. 2 Thessalonians 3:10 says, “For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.” This passage specifically addresses preachers that did not pitch in labor when they were preaching away from home. But it applies in every situation – except for people who are physically or intellectually incapable of working. If you are capable of working, and you fail to work, you don’t deserve anything.
Fortunately, people who have extra because of their diligent work often willingly share through charity. But this charity should not be required. What’s mine is not yours unless I freely give it to you. This thought is also the truth of the Gospel. You don’t automatically get salvation. Jesus offers you grace willingly by His will, and you need only to accept your salvation.
Ephesians 4:28 NASB
“The one who steals must no longer steal; but rather he must labor, producing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with the one who has need.” If you can work but fail to do so to live off the government, you are a thief. You should find some lawful work. Psalm 90:17 KJV “And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.” Proverbs 12:24 NASB “The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy hand will be put to forced labor.”
God designed us to work for what we have. The harder or smarter we work, the more we have. The fact that there are rich people and poor people should not surprise anyone. This inequity is God’s will. God chooses our immutable characteristics, and we decide what we are going to do with them. Will we allow them to hold us down or release us from bondage. Will we allow them to determine our economic lot in life or rise above the things we cannot change. So, your ethnicity is no excuse in God’s eyes. God created Adam and Eve. There is only one race – the Human Race!!
Conclusion
Do not fall into this horrible “Woke” ideology. It’s a false doctrine that is bent on enslaving you, not freeing you!! Stick with what the Bible says. God’s wisdom is vastly superior to the wisest man or woman that ever lived. Quite frankly, our wisdom and righteousness are like filthy rags compared to God’s wisdom and righteousness. Free yourselves from this preposterous folly known as Wokeism. It will enslave you and force you to abandon the true faith only found in the Bible. The Bible shares the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ from cover to cover, and Christianity is the only true faith.
